The Line
Preamble
The use of drawings and models both physical and digital as an abstraction of architecture and how this communicates the intent of the design is a fundamental part of the design process.
The design process is at its initiation a representation process that eventually evolves into reality. The representation process is the principal avenue for the investigation of the design.
It is the representation of the design that is the supreme form of communication between the design, the designer and the viewer. It is of critical importance that a designer is able to ‘draw’ well and be able to communicate through drawing not only to others but most importantly to him.
The line is the alpha of drawing.
The mastery of representation begins with the mastery of the line.
At the sublime level it can achieve an expressive power that brings to drawings not only the emotional basis of the genesis of the design but also the intellectual ideas that orders, rules and give substance.

And so i will spent 4 hrs in the studio tomorrow drawing lines. How interesting.
